Cross laminated timber repair to wall and roof panels

Trace completed specialist structural timber repairs at Sandal Magna in Wakefield, working with cross laminated timber wall panels, CLT roof panels and resin bonded connection rods.
Unlike traditional historic timber repairs, this project involved modern engineered timber. CLT structures require precise repair methods to protect load paths, panel performance and long-term structural integrity.
The key challenge was to complete splice repairs and connection works without compromising the behaviour of the CLT wall and roof panels.
Trace assessed the repair requirements and used resin bonding techniques with connection rods at splice repair locations. This allowed repairs to be made to the CLT structure while maintaining strength and continuity through the affected areas.
Specialist resin bonded rods were used to reinforce splice repairs within the CLT wall and roof panel system. The approach was tailored to the engineered timber construction rather than applying standard historic repair methods.
Trace Heritage and Restoration carried out extensive timber roof structure repairs at Ashton Old Baths, including historic truss repair, splice and resin combination repairs, metal plate reinforcement and new timber construction.
