Our Process
Initial Assessment

We carry out a detailed site inspection to identify the source of damp, timber decay or fungal deterioration. For listed and historic buildings, we carefully assess traditional materials and construction methods before recommending repairs.

Survey, Report & Recommendations

You’ll receive a clear report outlining our findings, diagnosis and recommended next steps. Where required, we can also provide technical drawings and repair specifications.

Specialist Repair Works

Our experienced teams carry out sympathetic damp proofing, timber repairs and associated remedial works using both traditional and modern repair techniques. From wet rot and dry rot treatment to structural timber repair, we focus on long term solutions rather than temporary fixes.

Final Inspection & Guarantees

Once complete, all works are inspected to ensure repairs meet specification and expected standards. Relevant guarantees and supporting documentation are then issued for peace of mind.

Family run, award winning and built on industry knowledge

Founded in 1974, Trace remains a family run business led today by James and David Hockey, who continue the standards and specialist expertise established by their parents.

Over the decades, Trace has helped shape the damp proofing, waterproofing and timber preservation industry, contributing to qualifications, best practice guidance and technical standards alongside organisations including the PCA.

Our work has also been recognised with multiple industry awards for technical excellence, project delivery and professional achievement.
