In 1983 and 1984 Trace undertook two projects involving renewal of the majority of the oak quatrefoils of the oldest external timber frame walls, along with repairing oak timber windows and storm porch, and fitting of new oak finials. This limited the need for external repairs when the building was refurbished during 2009-2011.

Trace repaired and reinforced the historic timber roof structure at Ashton Old Baths. The works covered trusses, purlins, joists and beams, combining traditional splice repairs with resin techniques and metal plate reinforcement. Original timber members were retained where practical, with replacement timber and new truss construction used where necessary. This approach balanced structural repair with the preservation of the building’s historic character.
